Breakfast at the Lodge again. Then we drove about 20 miles to Edith Cavell Mountain and its glacier. Fantastic! We even heard and say some ice cleave from the glacier, and Aron and Natan picked up little icebergs from the glacial lake! The story of Edith Cavell is wonderful, too. She was a nurse in Brussels when the Germans overran Belgium in World War I and she elected to stay when she could have safely left. She helped injured people on both sides and managed to help 200 Allied soldiers escape before she was found out by the Germans and shot as a spy. In her honor the Canadians named this magnificent mountain after her. |

After Edith Cavell we came home — back to the Marmot Lodge — and veged out. We played some games, the kids swam. After dinner at Jasper Pizza we surprised Ben with a cake, cards, and a present for his 42nd birthday. After that I stayed home, but all else went for an evening walk. Then we packed that night for our return the next day to Banff. |
